Moved Onion 'Shakespeare', Onion 'Red Winter' and Onion 'Red Cross' sets from Home Greenhouse to Allotment Greenhouse

Today I moved the Onion 'Shakespeare', Onion 'Red Winter' and Onion 'Red Cross' sets that I planted in tray's last week down to the Allotment Greenhouse to grow to allow more space in the Home Greenhouse. If a frost is forecast I will put fleece overtop of these and if needs be provide heating in the Allotment Greenhouse.

Made ring's for Onion Seedlings

Today I didn't go out into the Greenhouse however I stayed indoors and made up some rings in order to allow my onions to remain standing up while growing tall. I made these cutting 9 inch lengths of galvanised garden wire.

Pricked out Onion 'Ailsa Craig' and Onion 'Bedfordshire Champion' seedlings

Today I went into the Greenhouse and pricked out Onion 'Ailsa Craig' and Onion 'Bedfordshire Champion' seedlings into 2 inch pots filled with John Innes No.1 seed compost. I have put the seedlings back into the heated propagator for the time being because of the cold conditions expected.

I have put the Onion 'Ailsa Craig' and Onion 'Bedfordshire Champion' seed trays back into the heated propagator to be able to allow for further seedlings to appear.

Pricked out Onion 'Exhibition' and Onion 'The Kelsae' seedlings

Today I filled up 37 x 2 inch pots in order to start to start potting up some of my Onion seedlings. I pricked out the following:

- 20 x Onion 'Exhibition' seedlings into 2 inch pots filled with John Innes No.1 seed compost
- 17 x Onion 'The Kelsae' seedlings into 2 inch pots filled with John Innes No.1 seed compost

Due to work this afternoon and this evening I ran out of time to do the rest of the onion seedlings so will do these tomorrow.

I put the half seed trays of both Onion 'Exhibition' and Onion 'The Kelsae' back into the other heated propagator as further seedlings appear to be showing. The Shallot 'Jermor' sets now appear to be starting to sprout. The Garlic 'Lautrec Wight' and Garlic 'Early Purple Wight' cloves are also sprouting quite nicely over the other side of the Greenhouse.

I know need to make some hoops up to keep the onion's in an upright position.

Sowed Celery 'Marine', Shallot 'Zebrune' and Shallot 'Simiane F1 Hybrid' seeds

Today I sowed the following into the Greenhouse:

- Celery 'Marine' seeds into a 11cm square pot in a mixture of Westland Jack's Magic Multipurpose compost and vermiculite. I have put a sprinkling of vermiculite on top of the compost once sowing the seeds. I then placed this into a heated propagator.
- Shallot 'Zebrune' seeds into a half seed tray filled with Levington John Innes Seed compost. This has then been placed into a heated propagator.
- Shallot 'Simiane F1 Hybrid' seeds into a half seed tray filled with Levington John Innes Seed compost. This has then been placed into a heated propagator.

The Sweet Pepper 'California Wonder' seeds which were sown on 26th December 2015 have finally started to germinate. The Onion 'Ailsa Craig', 'Bedfordshire Champion', 'Exhibition' and 'The Kelsae' seedlings appear as if they need to be pricked out quite soon. The onion set's still need to be planted at some point in the foreseeable future. The Leek 'Musselburgh' seeds appear to be starting to germinate but currently there is no growth on the Shallot 'Jermor' sets.

Onion 'Bedfordshire Champion', Onion 'Exhibition' and Onion 'The Kelsae' seed germinated, Garlic 'Early Purple Wight' and Garlic 'Lautrec Wight' cloves beginning to sprout

Today I popped into the Greenhouse to see the progress of my seeds germinating as I have been away for a few days:

Onion 'Bedfordshire Champion', Onion 'Exhibition', Onion 'The Kelsae'
and Onion 'Ailsa Craig' in half seed trays and Sweet Pepper
'California Wonder' in the 3 inch round pot
As can be seen in the heated propagator above, the Onion 'Bedfordshire Champion', Onion 'Exhibition' and Onion 'The Kelsae' seeds appear to have started germinating. Onion 'Ailsa Craig' appears to be further behind but these will probably show in the next few days. The Sweet Pepper 'California Wonder' seeds have not currently germinated.

The Leek 'Musselburgh' seeds appear to have not germinated either as of yet. The Shallot 'Jermor' sets appear to have not started to sprout up but this will probably start in the next week or so.

As can be seen in the photo above the Garlic 'Early Purple White' and Garlic 'Lautrec Wight' cloves that I planted on the Shortest Day (22nd December 2015) appear to have started to sprout.

Sowed Onion (Spring) 'North Holland Bloodred Redmate' seeds, created a hoop and started to clear out the Greenhouse

Today I went down the Allotment for about 1 hour. I sowed Onion (Spring) 'North Holland Bloodred Redmate' seeds into the other half of the drill that I took out yesterday (These are behind the Onion (Spring) White Lisbon Winter Hardy seeds).

I also tried to make some hoops using the metal rods and blue pipe.

2 Metal rods and Blue Water pipe
I also had a bit of a tidy up of the Greenhouse and done some digging to get out some of the weeds.
